PC Stress Test
This PC stress test loads your processor from the browser, and a follow-up graphics test completes the picture. It is a quick way to check stability and cooling without installing software.

About this tool
Why stress test a computer?
A stress test finds problems before they find you: overheating, weak cooling, an unstable overclock, a power supply that struggles under load, or crashes that only appear when everything runs flat out.
Checking overall performance
For a broader picture, combine the CPU test, the GPU benchmark and the refresh rate test. Together they cover processor, graphics and display.
How to read the results
Watch how throughput changes over the run. A steady line is good. A steady fall, especially after the first 30 seconds, suggests the CPU is running into heat or power limits. A line that jumps around usually means other programs are competing for the CPU. The result is a relative check of this machine, not a score to compare with other computers.
How to stress test your PC
- Close other programs and save your work.
- Run the CPU test above for 30 to 60 seconds and note whether throughput drops.
- Run the GPU stress test.
- Watch temperatures with a hardware monitor, and stop if they climb too high or the machine behaves oddly.
Longer burn-in tests
Browser tests are the quickest check. For long burn-in sessions on Windows, see our guide to monitoring and stress-test software.
Frequently asked questions
Is a PC stress test safe?
Short browser tests are safe on a healthy, well-cooled PC. Stop if temperatures rise fast or fans sound extreme. Avoid long tests on a laptop resting on a soft surface.
How long should a stress test run?
One minute for a quick check, and 10 to 30 minutes with a hardware monitor for a thorough burn-in.
Does it test RAM?
No. Use a dedicated memory tester for RAM faults.
How long should I run a PC stress test?
Thirty to sixty seconds finds obvious cooling problems. For a deeper check run the CPU test for two minutes and the GPU thermal test for at least two minutes, while a monitoring tool shows temperatures.
