3DMark and FurMark Alternatives
Browser tests are the fastest way to check a GPU, and desktop tools go further. This page explains when to use each, so you can start here and install something only if you need it.

Before you start
GPU stress tests can significantly increase GPU load, temperature, power draw and fan speed.
Stop the test if your system becomes unstable, overheats, crashes or behaves unexpectedly. Do not run extreme tests on hardware with known cooling problems. This website cannot guarantee hardware safety.
This is a deliberately punishing test. It can push your GPU to its thermal and power limits for minutes.
- Laptops: plug in the charger and make sure the vents are clear.
- Make sure your GPU is cooled properly. Do not run this with known fan or cooling problems.
- Save your work and close other important tabs. A weak or overheated GPU can make the screen flicker or the graphics driver reset, which may close apps.
- You can stop at any time with the Stop button or the Escape key. The test also stops itself if frames take more than two seconds.
Long run: this test keeps the GPU busy for five minutes or more, so your computer will get warm. Laptops should be plugged in. You can stop at any time with the Stop button.
About this tool
| Need | Best choice |
|---|---|
| Quick check, nothing to install | Stress My GPU |
| Compare with published scores | 3DMark or Unigine Heaven |
| Maximum heat and power draw | FurMark or GPU burn |
| Read temperatures and clocks | HWiNFO or MSI Afterburner |
How to read the results
The embedded quick check gives a verdict in about 30 seconds. Treat it as a first look: a steady result means the card handled this load; a weak or unsteady one is a reason to run a longer test or a desktop tool.
3DMark
3DMark is good for comparing against other users. Our scores are not comparable with it, but our verdict tells you how steady your own card is.
FurMark and GPU burn
These put an extreme, unrealistic load on a card and can run it very hot. Use them with monitoring and good cooling. On Linux, gpu-burn and glmark2 are common choices, and this site also works in a Linux browser.
Monitoring tools
MSI Afterburner, HWiNFO and GPU-Z read sensor data. Download them only from each tool’s official site. See our software guide.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free alternative to 3DMark?
For quick checks, yes: browser tests like this one. For score comparisons you need 3DMark or another standard tool.
Is FurMark safe?
It can be with monitoring and good cooling, but it creates an unrealistic worst-case load.
Are open-source GPU tests safe?
Many exist on GitHub. Check that the project is maintained and review what it does before you run it.
Is a browser test as accurate as 3DMark?
It is not trying to be. A desktop tool can use the full GPU and read sensors, while a browser test is quicker and needs no install. Use whichever fits your question.
